Crank was turned .010 on the main and rod journals.

Machine work was done at Oreilly's Machine Shop in Springfield, MO.

Crank weights almost 80 pounds.

Piston and Rod assemblies. Being whooped upside the head with one of those would be bad.

We used Speed Pro Flat top Pistons. Should give us about 9.5 to 1 compression.

Coating applied to piston skirt helps resist wear.

Push rods were purchased at Fastengineparts.com

Heavy duty Melling Oil pump drive shaft.

Water pump straight from Autozone. Painted Ford Dark Blue

Water pump propeller.

Check out the Chrome Alternator.

Rear view of alternator

Maybe we're just trying to justify a chrome alternator??

We opted to replace the old worn out distributor with one from Oreilly's

Edelbrock Performer Cam and Lifter kit.

We opted for the performer series for low end torque. This engine will be installed in a 78 LTD which is the full size version. (Read big and heavy)

Range is from idle to about 5000 rpm

Edelbrock parts are top notch. Kit comes with cam, lifters, moly lube and instructions.

Lifters and lube

Back side of cover. Cover will be painted Dark Ford Blue before it's all over.

3/8" Russell Fuel Line.
